Operator Work Placement

Operator Work Placement

Between semester 6 and semester 7, 4 credits (ECTS)

A mandatory industrial placement of a minimum of 4 weeks must be carried out by each student engineer during the summer break between the 1st and 2nd years of study.

This placement, whether it has a close link to the courses at ENSIC or not, mainly aims at giving the student a concrete idea of how the world of work functions and how the student is able to adapt.

This experience enables the student to observe the way in which a company is run, while being an integral part of it. However, the students have to pay particular attention to aspects of hygiene and safety in the work place, as well as to other factors related to the environment if appropriate.

Students have to write an internship report for the head of studies in the month following their coming back to school in September. The main theme of the report will be safety in the workplace. It will be evaluated by the teachers.

End of 3rd year - 30 credits (ECTS)

A mandatory industrial placement has to be carried out with a firm or with an industrial, commercial or public establishment. It must last between 4 and 6 months. The placement will take place in France or abroad. It is the first significant experience in the work environment. The student will be faced with the reality of being an engineer due to the technical, human, organisational and regulatory aspects.

At the end of this industrial placement, the students have to write a report explaining their work and the results obtained. They also have to defend their work in front of a jury composed of the industrial tutor, the pedagogical tutor and a teacher-researcher from the school who did not follow the student’s work.
